The beginning
For many reasons, my husband and I never thought we would be able to conceive...and weren't sure we wanted to. However, after lots of thought and prayers, we decided if it was in God's plan, it would happen. Fast forward a year and we welcomed baby Stella on March 12...our half year anniversary. She has been an answer to our prayers and we couldn't have imagined how in love with her we are. While I was pregnant, we discussed many things, as most couples do I'm sure, and one of the things we always came back to was allergies and how we'd handle them. We decided early on that we would raise Stella on a gluten free diet until she is two years old. We also discussed when to introduce cows milk or cows milk based formula and we have not reached an answer yet. Stella had breastmilk for five weeks with supplemental formula. At five/six weeks, we transitioned to exclusive formula. For weeks 2&3, she was on soy formula, but experienced severe stomach aches. After discussions with her pediatrician, we switched to nutramigen. On top of all of this, she has reflux and takes Zantac twice a day.
My hope with this blog is to document our journey as we raise a gluten free baby. I intend to document other happenings with our little family outside of food. I'd like to keep track of new recipes I've tried and Stella's milestones. Stay tuned!
